I have news to share! I’ve completed Google’s “Fundamentals of Digital Marketing” course and exam with 92%!
Chances are, you have read this and thinking to yourself, what is Dan going on about?! Well up until several weeks ago, I would have done the same!
I somewhat stumbled over Digital Garage whilst searching the web for online courses that I could take to help further my knowledge. My ongoing concern over these “free online courses” is I always find myself asking if they are really worth the time and effort? There’s nothing worse than giving up your valuable time to complete a course, only to find that either no one will recognise the qualification, or you will finish it having no further knowledge than when you started!
Then I came across Google Digital Garage, and I knew that I wanted to learn more.
Digital Garage is a place where people (like me!) come to learn new skills to help you grow your career or business. The site contains over 126 courses to help the most “in demand” skills such as Data and Tech, and most importantly for me, Digital Marketing! Whilst many of these courses contain fees and aren’t the cheapest take, Google offers several that are totally free! You even get a certification at the end of the course which you can download or upload to your LinkedIn account. I did both!
So why did I take this course? Well to start, the course was written in a way that matches my learning style, with plenty of video tutorials and end of topic test your knowledge questions to ensure you are ready to move on to the next stage. Every section was split up into bite size chunks – great for me as I could easily jump in and out when I wanted. The other reason? It’s free!
This 40 hour course absolutely flew by, and I personally learnt a lot! From creating content that engages audiences to helping a business expand into different countries, this course for me, had everything I needed. The only downside was that it left me wanting more!
The most informative and beneficial modules for me were:
The Importance of Search engine Optimisation – SEO
How much you can learn about your customers from using analytics tools
Planning an online business strategy
Using organic and paid results to boost brand awareness
Over the coming weeks I will be blogging about more digital marketing tactics and sharing information that I believe would be helpful to you in creating an online presence for your business.
Thanks for the read!
Dan 🙂
